Killswitch Engage “Atonement” review

Metalcore is a very divisive genre under the metal umbrella, some people love it while others claim to despise it completely. This unique blend of Metal and Hardcore has produced some of this generations most well known acts, Avenged Sevenfold, Code Orange, Cane Hill, Ice Nine Kills and Hatebreed lead a long list of top quality bands.

At the forefront are Killswitch Engage, who can be labelled as the undisputed kings of Metalcore, and it’s easy to see why with their new album “Atonement”. In what is the bands best album to date, Atonement is a mix of infectious grooves, catching beats and powerful hooks, which are perfectly blended behind Jesse Leach’s thunderous yet melodic vocals.

Stand out tracks include “The Crownless King” featuring Testament’s Chuck Billy, “Know Your Enemy”, “I Am Broken Too”, “Ravenous” and “The Signal Fire” which features former vocalist Howard Jones who took over vocal duties from Leach in 2002 until Leach’s return in 2012.

Watch/listen to “The Signal Fire” here:

Atonement is not only an incredible listen from start to finish, it is also the perfect album to introduce Killswitch Engage to a whole new audience…
